Local Landlord Group is up and Running!

landlord group meeting

The North Shore Rental Housing Association hosted our first meeting at Lynn Arts in downtown Lynn.  Despite the snowy evening (the only one so far this winter), we had a great turn out.

I went out of the way to invite every local politican and community group; including many tenant friendly groups as well. Several local politicians came BUT not one of the "advocate" groups showed up.
I was very pleased with the response from local politicians. (Dan Cahill we are very impressed with you and we thank you too Hong Net.)

I was a bit dismayed not to see one "advocate". (No one even emailed me back!) They always tend to complain about landlords and housing, and I was hoping to get feedback from them on issues they face...... Ohh well....

What we did have was a room full of landlords, big and small ones, full of great ideas and suggestions! Soooo, the tenant portion of our group has disbanded due to lack of interest. The reception from the landlords was to leave out that portion, as I thought it would be.  Not to say, we won't revisit this portion, but for the time being the feedback was to kill it.

We invite all NORTH SHORE landlords, industry professionals or anyone who is interested to come out to our first official meeting on:

Community Room

20 Church Street Lynn, MA

$10.

The format of the first meeting is going to be 20/20/20.  I stole the idea from my gym where they offer a gym class cut up into three twenty minute segments of different exercises.

Three speakers...20 minutes each ...

-Industry specific lawyer will discuss security deposits and how to avoid messing them up.  Its easy if you follow ALL of the rules the state of MA imposes.

-An exterminator will talk about rats and bedbugs. They are even in Swampscott!Tips and tools to catch and get rid of them

-Tenant screening

Open forum & Questions....

We are an educational nonprofit that I am paying for. $10 at the door.  I love what I do but I have to start to recoop my advertising costs, publishing and nonprofit out-of-pocket expenses.

Annual membership prices will be determined in the coming months.
