Aries Market Opens (Softly) Wednesday

A long vacant store at 357 Essex St. will open its door to convenience market trade starting Wednesday.

The market's opening will be soft as the owners continue to fully stock and install electronic billing at the market, said Nick Bakis, who, along with his brother Danny, owns the market.

A more formal opening with specials and giveaways will follow in two or three weeks, he said.

The hours of operation will be from 6 am to 10 pm seven days a week. The store is on the former site of Fiory’s 2 Market and sits across from Danvers Road.

The market, called Aries, will offer a regular array of convenience store products as well as beer and wine, including craft beers.

The beer and wine sales were grandfathered from the prior market, Fiory's.

The store will also sell gas.

This is the Bakis brothers' first store. They come from the West Roxbury part of Boston and look forward to establishing themselves as a neighborhood store in Swampscott.
