Grown Ups 2 Filming Schedule

The filming at Swampscott Middle School has been moved to Tuesday. Marblehead will host a lot filming in the next two weeks.

A classroom scene being filmed at for the Adam Sandler movie has been rescheduled for Tuesday, according to the superintendent of schools.

The shoot was originally scheduled Monday in the school's Grade 5 wing, where a history class was to be transformed to a French class for a movie scene.

The plan, to minimize any disruptions to the real school day, was to move the fifth graders to the sixth grade wing because they had a field trip scheduled Monday.

In any event, movie extras will play the roll of French class students.

Parking restrictions will be in effect on streets around the Forest Avenue school.

Grown Ups 2 will be shooting at six or seven private homes in Swampscott and in Marblehead in the coming weeks.

We will report on the Swampscott shoots as we find out about them.

The sound stage under construction at Phillips Park will include the Adam Sandler character's house, his pool and tennis courts.

Last week the Swampscott Zoning Board of Appeals approved the state's first temporary movie sound stage in Swampscott.

Land where the soundstage is being built once held a pond and was later filled in for an athletic field, town historian Lou Gallo said.

The tented sound stage will be 45,000 square feet and 80 feet tall. It will allow the movie crew to film a "wild party" scene during the day.

About two weeks of filming is planned in the tented building, likely in July.

The entire cast is in the party scene that takes place at the rear of the home belonging to the Adam Sandler character, location manager Charlie Harrington said.

Meanwhile, the movie's location managers presented an updated filming schedule to Marblehead selectmen on Wednesday.

On Thursday, June 7, Grown Ups 2 film crews will return to the rear of Marblehead Veterans Middle School for a full day of shooting, location manager Mark Fitzgerald told the Marblehead board, Marblehead Patch reported.

Fitzgerald said the next day, Friday, June 8, the town should be prepared for "the biggest thing that we have going in Marblehead and the biggest thing we have going in the movie."

From 10 a.m. on Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday, Lafayette Street will be closed off while scenes are shot at Gatchell Park where Recreation and Parks Commission members operate the lights and scoreboards.

From Monday June 11 to Wednesday June 13, parts of Washington Street may be closed down while the Old Town House is turned into an aerobics studio for a scene with Salma Hayek and a shopping scene is filmed at two local stores.
