Russ, your figure only accounts for the 85 employees who aren't unionized and who are a small fraction of the total workers employed by the city. A better representation of the average salary would be to take the sum total of regular earnings by all employees and divide by the number of said employees. Based on calendar year earnings for 2012 and just limiting it to salaries of $10,000 or more, the average is $46,890. If you account for all 2,117 people who were paid by the city last year, the average drops to $33,643.

ReplyStandard policy is not to publish names unless there is an arrest. There was just a court summons here on the charges, no one was taken into custody at the time.

ReplyLet's dispense with the mean-spirited nicknames, Saber. Thanks. You clearly made your point otherwise.

Correct, there are a lot of part-time and contract employees in that group and there's really no good way to easily weed them out. By the way, if you take the average of that smaller group of employees ($16,600 and up) rather than just the median, you end up with $52,089...for what it's worth.
