Gabby LaRiviere Becomes Fourth Player on Team to Score 100 Points
The St. John's Girls Bantams and Cadets both fell in the EMass Final. Despite the losses, both teams finished fantastic seasons. For the Girls Bantams, Faye Parker set a new season record for rebounds. On the Girls Cadet side, Hannah Leahy broke the season record for free throws made and 4 players, Jamie Caponigro(175), Elizabeth Weisse(148), Hannah Leahy(142), and Gabby LaRiviere(104), scored 100 points on the season. It was the first time that St. John's had sent two teams to the Title Game since 2004. Boys Bantams Defense Leads St. John's Victory - February 2, 2013 At the Swampscott Middle School, the Boys Bantams took on St. Adelaide of Peabody. The game was never close. St. John's had 16 first half steals to take a commanding lead and rolled to the win. Jake Goldman got things started with a steal and drive to the hoop for an early lead. It was a sign of things to come. St. Johns' full court swarming defense caused numerous turnovers. Always a good defensive team, St. John's kicked it up a notch. Jake Goldman(4 steals), Jake Bartram(3 steals),Simon Keough(2 steals), Cole Cassidy(2 steals), Max Pegnato(2 steals) led the way. Matt Moran and Gavin Sullivan Lead Way
Girls Bantams St. John's Takes Rematch - December 15, 2012 At the Swampscott Middle School, the St. John's Girls Bantams took on Immaculate Conception of Revere in a rematch of an earlier win. St. John's scored early and pulled away for a 35-28 win. It took just 9 seconds for Fiona Herring to score the first basket of the game assisted by Emma Tomlins. After Revere retook the lead, back to back jumpers by Olivia Matela put St. John's back in front. Faye Parker followed with an offensive putback to extend the lead to five. Revere was in it's "Box and One" defense on Parker, but St. John's was playing tough defense of it own. They held Revere scoreless for over 6 minutes. Alumni Making a Splash in High School and College.
AJ Baker is currently playing football at Union College in Schenectady, NY. Allie Beaulieu after winning two CYO State Championships and a Girls Basketball State Championship at Swampscott High school, was recently named a Captain of the Bates College Women’s Basketball team. Kelly Birchmore is currently playing soccer for Salem State University. The Freshman was 3rd in team scoring with 13 points and had 3 game winning goals. Lily Burkett an 8th grader at Austin Prep was recently selected for the Girls Varsity Basketball Team. Sophmore Quarterback AJ Carrigan, Freshman Full Back Alex Cormier, and Sophmore Center PJ Vinal were all on the field for the St. John’s Prep Football team as they won the Division 1 Football Championship over …

Back to Back Victories for St. John's Boys Bantams
Boys Bantams St. John's Finishes Strong December 8, 2012 At the Swampscott Middle School, the Boys Bantams took on defending league champion, St. Rafael of Medford. Led by eight second half points by Jake Goldman, St. John's took the win. Simon Keough got things started with a basket and then an assist to Cole Cassidy. Cassidy would score two more times sandwiched around a Ben Turner basket as St. John's jumped out to a 10-2 lead. After a Medford hoop, Zach Elwell followed with a bank shot to make it 12-4 a little more than halfway into the first half. St. John's of Swampscott CYO Basketball Opening Weekend
St. John's Wins Big December 1, 2012 At the Swampscott Middle School, the St. John's Girls Bantams took on St. John's of Winthrop White. The game was never close as St. John's pulled away early for the win. Faye Parker scored the first 12 points of the game and dished to Kayla Kornitsky to make it a 14-point run to start the game. Winthrop finally broke the run with a basket at the 11 minute mark but they could not match up with Swampscott as they pulled away. Parker had 12 points and 14 first half rebounds and Olivia Matela tossed in 10 points as Swampscott held a commanding halftime lead. Things didn't get better for Winthrop in the second half. Travis Thurman Leads St. John's to Win
At Saugus High School, St. John's took on Saugus in the opening game of the Saugus Summer Basketball League. St. John's trailed by 11 points at the half before storming back for a 63-57 win. Saugus was hot early. It seemed that every time St. John's made a basket, Saugus countered with a 3-pointer. Half of the Sachem's first half points were 3-pointers. Donnie Weisse kept it close for St. John's with 10 first half points but they trailed 36-25. St. John's started chipping away at the lead early in the second half. Travis Thurman scored six straight points to cut the lead to 36-31. The two sides matched baskets until a Chris Thomsen hoop brought St. John's within three points. EMass Tournament Run Ends
For the last 4 seasons, at least one team from St. John’s has made the State Tournament. In 3 of those 4 years, a team made it to the Final Four. That alone is quite an accomplishment. Unfortunately for St. John’s, once again the season ended without making it to the Championship Game. At Milton High School, St. John’s took on the undefeated St. Rafael of Medford team. After a made Medford free throw, Chris Murphy scored on an offensive put back for an early lead. Donnie Weisse followed with a driving basket to keep St. John’s ahead by two at the 11:18 mark.
