Swampscott Recreation Fall Programs on Land and Sea

They range from sports to computer activities.

This information was submitted by Swampscott Recreation. Middle School After School Tennis  This program will be run by Andrew Fritz, head coach of Bishop Fenwick boy's team with 20 years of tennis experience. This program is for the beginner player as well as the more advanced player. Tennis will meet afterschool starting on Sept. 20, on Tuesday and Thursdays for 4 weeks. Please bring your own tennis racket. The cost of this program is $65. Co-Ed Basketball Training Program Visionary Basketball experienced staff is dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of the game and making sure that learning is conducted in a safe, positive environment that is also challenging to the player. Swampscott Recreation Group Sees Sox Sweep

A group of 55 people traveled on the Swampscott Recreation Department's road trip to Fenway Park July 10. They saw the final game of a four-game series versus the Baltimore Orioles. The Red Sox won the game, 8-6, sweeping the series.

Swampscott Recreation Department Director Danielle Strauss submitted the information for this article and the photographs. Here are some pictures from the Recreation Department's trip to the Red Sox game on July 10. Fifty-five people joined the trip to Fenway seeing the Sox win the final game of a four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles, 8-6. The Red Sox swept the series.

Summer Playground Program Kicked off Monday

More than 200 kids have signed up for programs at the two playgrounds in town. Other recreation programs include everything from basketball camp to sailing, and from rocket science camp to tennis.

On any summer day, 80 to 100 children typically attend the playground program at Clarke School, and the same number typically attend Stanley School's playground, said Recreation Director Daniel Strauss. Monday saw the town's two playgrounds open for the season, a beautiful day for the kids to renew friendships. One hundred fifty children signed up for playground programs at Clarke and just under 100 at Stanley, the director said. Each playground has 10 people supervising the children. Summer recreation program also offer activities for teens and adults. A new program is the  A cappella workshop organized by two high school freshmen for high school students. Summer Recreation Programs Serve Kids and Adults

The programs range from basketball camp to sailing, from rocket science camp to tennis.

Summer Recreation Programs   Big Blue Co-Ed Basketball Camp This camp will be run by Justin Fucile, Swampscott High boy’s varsity coach, as well as high school players. This fun camp is designed to promote individual improvement in each boy and girl. The camp runs Monday-Friday from 9  a.m. to 1 p.m. July 18th thru July 22nd. The cost is $125. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt and a sports backpack.  Art Camp  This camp is run by Hadley and Clarke art teacher Rachel Eisenberg. Grades K-4 will be the week of July 18th thru 22nd. Grades 5-8 will be the week of July 25 thru the 29th. This camp will cover all art forms. It will run Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $100. It will be held at Clarke School. VIDEO: Recreation Commission Ready For Spring And Summer

From sailing to science, the Swampscott Recreation Commission is gearing up their programs for the coming months.

Recreation Director Danielle Strauss was hard at work Thursday morning in her office at the Town Hall. She was going through applications for seasonal employment with the Recreation Commission. “We’ve had many, many qualified candidates submit applications for positions this year,” Strauss said. “I’m confident we’ll have great people working with us this year.” In addition to applications, Strauss and the Recreation Commission are preparing for Saturday’s “Swampscott’s Got Talent.” The talent showcase is from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the high school.  Tickets are $5 for admission to Swampscott’s first all-ages talent showcase. “Twenty four acts have signed up, including singers, dancers, piano players and a 12-year-old who is quite …
