Both track teams turned in impressive performances at the NEC championships Saturday in Lynn where the Blue girls claimed the NEC banner.
Coach Joe Tenney said the girls track team worked ridiculously hard heading into the NEC championships on Saturday in Lynn. “I just think the entire team really came into today poised and ready for a show down,” he said. Their head of steam carried them to the first NEC championship in Swampscott girls outdoors track since the early 1980s, he said. They ran, jumped and threw their best. They celebrated wildly. Returning veterans and talented newcomers are pointing the way to a good season in girls outdoor track.
Swampscott High girls outdoor track coach Joe Tenney, with 73 female student-athletes rounding out his roster, is looking forward to a big season in 2011. "This is the biggest team we've had since I started coaching," said Tenney this week, two days into the start of the spring sports season. "I'm honestly very excited about this season. I have high, high hopes because this team is actually young and very talented, but we also have good leadership." Really???????????? Dom built this team .... I guess he's the only one that counts and built the program alone with no help and must be the head coach for both boys and girls for all three season and doing so only coaching two of them amazing.   more ›
