Hardknock Hockey: Marblehead Over Swampscott
Marblehead defeated Swampscott 6-3 in the teams' first meeting of the season on Saturday.
Marblehead rode a second period goal spree, scoring three in several minutes, to defeat Swampscott Saturday evening, 6-3 in action at Salem State University's Rockett Arena. Marblehead got goals from Trip Franzese (2), Tom Koopman (2), Matt Koopman and Eric Powers. Marblehead is 2-1 on the season and will compete in the Gloucester tournament this week. Swampscott's tallies came from Noah Maercklein — his first varsity goal — Nunzio Morretti and Robert Serino. Marblehead Coach Bob Jackson said it was a roller coaster of a game. The lesson coming away is for the team to continue working hard when they lead in a game. That being said he credited Swampscott with coming out and playing hard after the second period.
