Once the Swampscott Harbor Advisory Committee, the panel is now the Harbor and Waterfront Advisory Committee.

The town's Harbor Advisory Committee is now the Harbor and Waterfront Advisory Committee. The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to add waterfront to the name of the long-standing committee, which currently supervises only Fisherman's Beach. Selectman Glenn Kessler proposed the change, saying the members of the committee are "ready and willing to step up" to expanding their concerns to the entire waterfront between the city limits of Lynn and the town line with Marblehead. Town Administrator Thomas Younger supported the change, telling the Selectmen, "I need help." He said the waterfront is Swampscott's greatest asset for economic development and recreation. Floats Pulled for Winter

A Department of Public Works crew hauled the landings out Thursday. The six floats sit stacked in a corner of the parking lot at Fisherman's Beach.

A DPW crew pulled floats from the town pier Thursday, marking the end of another boating season at Fisherman's Beach. The crew took advantage of extremely high water — almost 12 feet. They had the floats hauled to the parking lot and stacked in their corner by mid-afternoon, a few hours after the 11:45 am high tide, DPW Director Gino Cresta said. The crew detached the bobbing and creaking floats, hand-towed them to the boat ramp and chained them to a front loader for a ride to the corner. Swampscott Stories

Tea to Sea to Me

Swampscott sea glass artist Judy Trujillo is showing her works at the National Sea Glass Festival today and tomorrow on the Jersey Shore.

There’s lots of Swampscott on the New Jersey Shore, today. Mostly water-worn bits and pieces that Judy Trujillo hand picked at her feet, starting and stopping day after day on Swampscott beaches. She arranged the shards and sea glass into mosaics many of which picture Swampscott scenes. So at her booth this weekend at the National Sea Glass Festival in Long Branch, New Jersey visitors will see not only colorful pieces of sea glass but local color of the Swampscott kind.   Fisherman’s Beach is there in a mosaic or two. Ghosts of fishermen, too. Tea cups, saucers and plates that likely slipped from the harried kitchen hands and waitresses at the Lincoln House Point Hotel and were later tossed into the sea make her piece: Tea to Sea to Me. …
