Joint Town School Session Ends Without Statement

A joint statement is expected within 24 hours following a series of executive sessions by the Board of Selectmen and School Committee.

The selectmen's chairman said last night that there would be a joint statement within 24 hours from town and School District officials regarding the subject of individual executive sessions and their joint session on Thursday. The subject, as reported earlier, is a school forensic audit. Also present on Wednesday were the School District's lawyer, Selectman Jill Sullivan, School Committee members and the district business manager.   Selectmen met in closed session with the town auditors on Feb. 15. That session was continued to March 14, said Acting Town Administrator Dave Castellarin. Any public information that can be disclosed about the results will be disclosed …

On March 14, Selectmen will have a complete report on the audit discussed in their hour-long executive session last week. The Feb. 15, session was continued to March 14, said Acting Town Administrator Dave Castellarin. Any public information that can be disclosed about the results will be disclosed after the session, he said. The superintendent released a prepared statement regarding the audit. "The Town of Swampscott and the School Department have requested the town’s auditing firm conduct a forensic audit,” Superintendent Lynne Celli said. The rest of the statement said the district would not comment on the audit while it was ongoing. Superintendent Celli released no information on what, if anything prompted the review of books. …
