Midday Gusts to 60 mph Could Cause Power Outages, Downed Trees
Strong winds gusts are forecasted for midday Friday along with a storm moving through the area that was a blizzard in the midwest.
Strong winds may cause power outages in Swampscott on Friday, according to the National Weather Service. In an urgent weather message on Thursday afternoon, the weather service said that the highest risk for strong winds and power outages would be along the coast of Massachusetts, including the North Shore. The chance of high winds also prompted the weather service to issue a high wind watch that runs from late Thursday night through Friday afternoon. The winds are expected to blow at 30 to 40 miles per hour with gusts up to 60 miles per hour, with the strongest gusts between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday.
