Swampscott Company Fined $100,000 For Improper Handling of Asbestos

Total Dismantling and Carting Services and its successor company, The Total Group, violated the state's Clean Air Act according to Attorney General Martha Coakley.

[Editor's note: The following is a slightly edited press release from the office of Attorney General Martha Coakley.] A demolition company from Swampscott has been ordered to pay the Commonwealth $100,000 in civil penalties for the alleged improper removal and disposal of asbestos-containing waste at locations throughout eastern Massachusetts, including the Hook Lobster Company building on the Boston waterfront, Attorney General Martha Coakley announced Thursday.
