The team ended its regular season with a meet vs. Lynn Classical, a competition won by Lynn 96-79.
Information for this post came from coach Meaghan Simpson Swampscott swimmers and divers are looking forward to competing in the NEC meet on Tuesday and Wednesday at Salem State. The competition starts at 5 p.m. both days at the O'Keefe Center. The team lost its meet with Lynn Classical on Thursday, 96-79. The team had great swims by freshman Mark Kamen who won both the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle events, the coach said. Also, Cymantha Rogers, Erin Cassidy, Emily Guo, and Meg Weissenburger qualified for the sectionals relay in the 200 freestyle competition. The Big Blue divers and swimmers ended the season 1-7.

Here are results from Swampscott High swim meets this past week against Danvers and Beverly. Swampscott coach Meaghan Simpson provided the information. On Jan. 8, Meaghan reported that the swim team lost to Danvers 57-42. The Blue got good swims from senior captain Cymantha Rogers in both of her events, placing first in the 500 freestyle and 100 breast stroke. Other noteable swims came from freshman Emily Guo, and India Schultz in both their events. The next meet was against Beverly on Jan. 10. The Panthers won the match-up, 92-83. "We took the opportunity tonight to swim some of our (newer) team members in different events," the coach said. The Big Blue seniors received flowers at their last home meet of the year.
Teammates cheered at the JCC pool Thursday, their voices rolling over the water and bouncing off the walls. In the pool and above swimmers and divers arched and powered their bodies through the water and air. In the end, the Lynn English swimmers and divers won the meet 117-69, putting Swampscott's record at 1-3 on the season. Coach Meaghan Simpson said the Blue team is improving steadily. She said the team is "just waiting for it all to click together." Swampscott got good swims Thursday from Erin Cassidy in both the 50 and 100 freestyle, from Caitlin Rogers in the 100 fly and 100 backstroke, and from Stefanie Borneman in the 100 backstroke, the coach said. The senior is a whirlwind, slicing through the water in the pool and kicking high on the dance floor.
Alexa Baldacci moves. The Swampscott High senior’s energy and enthusiasm bound and spill forth on land and water. She captains her school swim team. She started swimming as a freshman and discovered she was pretty good. “So since then I’ve been swimming like crazy,” she said. Alexa, an NEC all-star, swims sprints — 50- and 100-yard freestyle sprints. The events fit her personality, straight ahead and energetic.
