Will Denzel Washington be the next star to make a movie in Swampscott? Bill Laganas, owner of Lynn Meatland — a meat market, sandwich shop and catering company in Lynn — said yesterday he got a call late last week from movie crew members saying movie scouts were looking at locations in Swampscott for a Denzel Washington film. Lynn Meatland did catering, big and small, for Grown Ups 2 last year, and Laganas is friendly with movie crew members. Laganas said he was told the Denzel Washington movie could take place in July, maybe the second week. The Swampscott location isn't cast in stone, he said. A Wonderful Life it is not, but the movie Ted may yet become a classic with a holiday connection. The comedy's opening scene takes place around the holidays. The movie, which includes a major scene at Ori Ron's Swampscott home on Atlantic Avenue, came out in DVD Tuesday after grossing more than a half billion dollars at the box office worldwide. On Thursday we checked with Chet's Video over in Marblehead to see how the movie was doing as a rental. The clerk, Melissa Strout, said customers have been asking about the movie for months, wanting to know when it would come out in DVD. It's been the most requested movie of the year, she said.
