Michael Johnson, 19, was sent to the Middleton House of Correction.
The man police say was behind the wheel during a serious Humphrey Street crash earlier this month is now in jail. According to YourTown Marblehead, Michael Johnson, 19 of Mattapan, was arraigned Thursday in Lynn District Court. Johnson was sent to the Middleton House of Correction and his bail was set at $5,000, the Boston Globe local Web site reported. Two other teens were hurt in the crash. Cameron Sylvester of Marblehead had the most serious injuries. He was discharged from Massachusetts General Hospital on April 15, YourTown Marblehead reported. Thieves have been kicking in front doors in the first half of the day.
Police ask residents to be on the lookout for suspicious people after a series of daytime break-ins this week. As of Thursday four had taken place, all between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., said Det. Bill Waters. They include breaks on Barnstable Street and Aspen Road, he said. The thieves have been kicking in front doors to access homes and stealing laptop computers, iPads, jewelry and other items of value. "Residents are urged to call the police immediately if they notice any suspicious persons," the detective said. The Boston man was arraigned after a domestic incident on Humphrey Street last week.
Police charged a Boston man with domestic assault and battery and unarmed robbery last week after he allegedly struck his girlfriend and fled with her pocketbook. Jamile Smith, 37, of 740 Mass Ave., was arraigned April 16, in Lynn District Court in connection with the charges. Police responded to a report of a fight in the street in the vicinity of 565 Humphrey St. shortly before 7:30 p.m. on April 14, according to the police report. At the scene the alleged victim told police her boyfriend had hit her in the ear and took off with her pocketbook, the report states. The Marblehead man was transported to U-Mass Medical Clinic on Thursday after a crash in Hopkinton.
A Marblehead man injured after his vehicle rolled over several times in Hopkinton Thursday afternoon is listed in good condition. Nicholas Casey, 53, of Marblehead was transported to U-Mass Medical Center with incapacitating but non-fatal injuries, according to state police. The hospital spokesman released his condition on Friday afternoon. Patch awaits a report on the condition of his passenger, Kimberly O’Connor, 41, of Geneva, Illinois, who was also transported to the hospital with non-fatal injuries, police said. About 2:50 p.m., 911 callers reported the accident on Route 90 westbound to State Police Barracks in Weston, police said. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts, police said.
