Danielle Lannon was on the sidelines the last time the Patriots and Giants met in the Super Bowl.
Swampscott's Super Bowl cheerleading tradition will continue Sunday when Michelle Nigro takes to the sidelines. She will be the second Patriots cheerleader from Swampscott to cheer in a Super Bowl that pits New England vs the Giants. Her Swampscott High dance team teacher, Danielle Lannon, cheered the first time the two teams played a Super Bowl in 2008. Here is a Q&A interview with Danielle, still the coach for the school's dance team. Who knows, maybe one of her current team members will keep the tradition alive and cheer at a Pats Super Bowl in the future. Q&A With Danielle When and where did you go for the Super Bowl? Two Swampscott Olympia store employees have a different opinion.
Customers' mad rush for Bruins hats and shirts last June after the team's Stanley Cup triumph is fresh in Nancy Swecker's mind. The Olympia Sports employee thinks the push for Patriots gear at the Swampscott Mall store will be just as frantic on Monday if Tom Brady's troops prevail on Sunday. Store Manager Chris Moreno isn't so sure. It will be tough to match the passion for Bruins commemorative items that he saw in June while working at the Gloucester Olympia Sports location. "I think it'll still be crazy but the Bruins hadn't won for a long time and the Patriots have won (more recently)," he said. Nancy Swecker said people were trying to force their way into the store in June to get the white hats that said the Bruins were champs. The …

Michelle Nigro is excited to begin her season as a Patriots cheerleader.
The NFL lockout lasted 18 weeks and four days, but Michelle Nigro was optimistic that it would come to an end. It's a good thing, too, because Nigro has been practicing to make her debut this season as a Patriots cheerleader. A resident of Swampscott, she was one of the 31 women chosen from 300 hopefuls for this season's cheerleading squad. This is Nigro's second year on the team. "I'm not a rookie anymore," Nigro said. "I'm a veteran on the team." Not only does the squad have to cheer at home games, but they're also responsible for promotional appearances throughout the season, including a week-long shoot for a calendar. "I enjoy all of it," Nigro said, "I love dancing and I'm excited to do it again." Nigro has been dancing since she was…
