Angie Miller will be the star of a downtown parade and afternoon concert in Beverly on Saturday.
Come to the Angie Parade Saturday afternoon will be all-Angie, all the time in Beverly for her hometown visit. American Idol Top 3 contestant Angie Miller will be welcomed home to Beverly with a parade through the downtown that will end at Beverly High School - where she graduated last year - with a free concert. The parade and concert have been in the planning stages all week, but were made official after this week's voting results were finalized during Thursday night's show, sending Miller to the Top 3 for season 12 of the hit Fox show. It will be the first American Idol hometown visit to New England. Judge Nicki Minaj said the four finalists are "all superheroes" moments before it was announced that Miller advanced to the Top 3. The holiday parade starts at the high school and ends at the high school. But long before the parade started students at the school prepared the Toys For Local Children van for the parade procession. The van will travel the parade route and accept gifts for local children who otherwise might not receive a gift at the holidays. As far as the parade route goes, the trolley, floats and St. Nick will wind their way through the heart of town, rolling from Vinnin to Salem Street to Humphrey and Burrill. The Swampscott Police Association's members voted early on, last month, to have a parade, said Det. Ted Delano. After all, many people plan Christmas and holiday parties around the motorized event, huddling in yards to wave at passersby and take…

Here is the whole shebang of Fourth of July activities from July 1, to July 4, including the parade, the Strawberry Festival, the fireworks and the town races.
Strap yourself in for a rollicking 4th of July celebration in Swampscott. The annual celebration of our nation's independence from colonial rule gets underway Sunday, July 1, with a parade and ends on July 4, with foot races at Blocksidge Field. In between, you can dig your spoon into berries, biscuits and whip cream, bounce on a moon bounce, buy crafts, jump around to rock'n'roll, "ooh and aah" over the night flight of exploding fireworks and dig your toes into the good earth and grass in a foot race. July 1 July 3 July 4 Editor's note: The correct time for the July 4, town races is 11 am.

This article was submitted by Mike Pegnato. In a sure sign that summer is around the corner, some 500 Swampscott Little Leaguers and their families took to the streets on a beautiful Sunday morning earlier this spring for the annual Swampscott Little League parade. This year's parade was exceptionally momentous as the ceremonies concluded with a dedication and renaming of the Forest Ave. field complex to the "Duratti-Holmes-Cerone Field" in honor of the 50-plus years of service from SLL "founding fathers" Al Duratti, Andy Holmes, and Al Cerone. Led by Swampscott Police and Fire vehicles and the North Shore Navigator's Mascot ("Chomps the Gator"), boys and girls from age 4-14 years old laughed, screamed, and marched their way from Hadley …

Oh, Allen...don't be baited by Louis Massei. This is his outlet to complain about how much better things were in the old days, how stupid everyone is in Swampscott, how there is always a better way to do things, blah, blah, blah. Everyone feels better once their voice has been heard. This is his complaint department.   more ›
