As you've probably heard, Seinfeld creator and HBO star Larry David has been busy filming his new movie Clear History in locations along the North Shore this fall, including Beverly and North Andover. At their meeting at Abbot Hall Wednesday night, Police Chief Robert Picariello appeared before Marblehead's Board of Selectmen to discuss a one-day shoot planned for Thompson Road next week. No such request has come to Swampscott. We asked Town Administrator Tom Younger if the town had heard from the Larry David people about any filming in Swampscott. He has not heard from them, he said. In Marblehead, as was the case when …

The Other Swampscott Movie: Ted

We talked to the man whose Atlantic Avenue home was used in the Seth MacFarlane movie starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis.

The comedy Ted, a movie starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis, has some major Swampscott connections. For one, the main character, John, played by Wahlberg, was born in Swampscott, according to the movie plot. And as many Swampscott people will remember — a major scene in the film was shot inside and outside a Swampscott home on Atlantic Avenue back in May of 2011. In the movie the home belonged to the character Rex, the hated manager of the Mila Kunis character, Lori. In real life, the Ron family lives in the Atlantic Avenue home with the spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean by Preston Beach. Ori Ron told Patch right before the film opened that he planned on seeing the movie but his greatest interest in it was what it and other movies…

Latest Grown Ups 2 Filming Schedule

After several days in Marblehead filming for the Adam Sandler movie has moved back to Swampscott. Then early next week it will shift back to Marblehead.

Crews in the Adam Sandler comedy Grown Ups 2 have returned to Swampscott for filming after three days in Marblehead. They were unloading equipment on Shelton Road late Wednesday as they prepared for filming today. Shelton includes a couple movie set locations including the Kevin James house. Location Manager Mark Fitzgerald was at the scene talking to neighbors as crews unloaded equipment Wednesday.  Orange cones were at the roadside throughout Shelton restricting parking, and signs said a no parking order was in effect through late Friday. During the latest filming in Marblehead, Salma Hayek, Adam Sandler and Jon Lovitz were among the actors on the sets. Looking ahead to Monday, and continuing through June 23, Columbia Pictures film …

Lautner to Have Frat Brother Role In Swampscott's Grown Ups 2

The Twilight actor is one of more than a dozen celebrities in the Adam Sandler comedy.

It remains to be seen whether Twilight star and Grown Ups 2 actor Taylor Lautner will make an appearance at Swampscott’s Marian Court College this summer. But actor Milo Ventimiglia told MTV that he and Lautner will play fraternity brothers in Grown Ups 2. Marian Court announced earlier that its exterior will serve as a college fraternity house in a scene slated to be shot in mid-July. The stately building — once the summer White House for President Calvin Coolidge — is pegged for a less dignified use in Grown Ups 2. The fraternity house will come under graffiti attack in a battle of the townies vs the college kids, a movie representative told Marian, according to a college spokeswoman. Meanwhile, after a week that saw filming in …

The train station will be open Thursday but both inbound and outbound service will take place on the Columbia Street side.

Welcome to Stanton. Commuters pouring from the 4:45 pm outbound Wednesday here in Swampscott found their station stop's name had changed. Xia He, a commuter who works in Cambridge, did a double take reading signs marking the stop as Stanton Station. An oversized train schedule reads Inbound to Hartford. Signs advertised Spam and Keds shoes. The time warp will continue tomorrow for early commuters. The station will be open for commuters but only on the Columbia Street side, police said. Both inbound and outbound customers will board and disembark on the station's Columbia Street side until about 1 pm. Commuters will not be able to enter the station on Railroad Avenue, as it will be closed to pedestrians. There will be little or no parking…

Swampscott Grown Ups and Kids Heading to Movie Audition

Plenty of Swampscott people are Boston bound this weekend to land an extra role in the Grown Ups 2 movie to be shot in town.

They hope the extras’ line isn’t extra long but will wait for their shot to appear in the movie. The movie is Grown Ups 2, and much of it will be filmed in Swampscott this summer. The line is an open casting call line in Boston — today and tomorrow — and standing in it will be a number of Swampscott kids and adults, even a baby. Christine Hopkins of Swampscott is sacrificing her Mother’s Day for her 13-year-old son, Stephen, because he really wants to try for an extra role. Stephen, who has relished his parts in Swampscott Middle School plays including Snow Show and School Daze, has been counting the days until Sunday.  Day dreaming about it and crossing off dates on his bedroom calendar. Mom figures many many kids will arrive for the …

The movie remains in post-production according to an NBCUniversal spokesman.

Academy Awards night and Oscar acceptance speeches will get some local people thinking about Swampscott's shoulder brush with Hollywood in 2011. Film crews were in town the first week in May shooting scenes for the movie Ted starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis. The movie remains in post production and scenes are not finalized, according to an NBCUniversal spokesman. The movie is set for release July 13, he said. Back in May film crews were shooting at 441 Atlantic Ave., a 10,000-square-foot, contemporary home on Preston Beach. Scenes included a big party.
