Swampscott police released this photograph of missing kayaker Maryan Lisovich, 23, Sunday shortly after 8 pm. The Coast Guard suspended its water search for the Lynn man at sunset Sunday after 24 hours of looking for him from the air and on the water. He was last seen wearing no shirt and red trunks as he shoved off in a kayak from Fisherman's Beach on Saturday at 4 pm. Maryan was reported missing on Saturday at 5:30 pm. Ninety minutes later, at 7 pm, his blue kayak was found overturned in the surf in the area of Eisman's Beach. Swampscott police and firefighters will continue to look for the missing man through the night. Water Search For Missing Kayaker Suspended
To continue the search for Maryan Lisovich after sunset would not increase the likelihood of finding him, a Coast Guard spokesman said.
The Coast Guard was to continue searching for missing kayaker Maryan Lisovich, 23, of Lynn, until sunset Sunday — 7 pm. After that time the water search was to be suspended, Coast Guard spokesman Sean Carroll said at about 6 pm Sunday night. To continue searching for the kayaker after dark would not increase the chances that the Coast Guard would find and rescue him, the spokesman said. The maritime service went all out in its search for the missing 23-year-old from Lynn. The search started about 24 hours ago, on Saturday. Daylight Search Underway for Missing Lynn Kayaker
The search for the man started after he was reported missing by his girlfriend late Saturday afternoon.
The search for missing kayaker Maryan Lisovich, 23, of Lynn continues this morning. The Coast Guard continues its water search with a helicopter and 47-foot boat, said Coast Guard Operation Specialist Trevor Frommherz, at 8 am Sunday. Meanwhile, Swampscott firefighters and police are continuing their search from land — at the water's edge. Swampscott fire Capt. Remo Zimbaldi said firefighters searched the shore line last night between Fisherman's Beach and Preston Beach. The tide and darkness made it difficult, he said, and the operation continues this morning.
