O-YO frozen yogurt will occupy two units at the new Gateway Building.
A new frozen yogurt shop will occupy two units at the new Gateway Building and could open as soon as the end of February, said Jayne Orloff-Carey, whose family owns the Gateway property. O-YO frozen yogurt is independently owned and will serve freshly made frozen yogurt and toppings, fresh fruit smoothies and freshly baked waffles, she said. The business needs only an occupancy permit from the town Building Department before it opens, said town Building Inspector Alan Hezekiah. O-YO will occupy two adjoining units: one a corner unit facing Humphrey Street and the other a side unit facing Redington Street. Town Planner Pete Kane likes the yogurt shop idea. It's a good fit for the beach and will generate foot traffic, he said. The Gateway…

The Vinnin Square shop has all its approvals in place and awaits completion of construction.
The owner of Swizzles frozen yogurt says the shop is about two weeks away from opening. Owner Adam Kessner he won't know for sure about the grand opening for about 10 days. "We are hoping to open on Sat. Aug. 4th," he said on Wednesday. The shop is located next to Petco at the Vinnin Square mall. Construction began in May. Kessner was seeking approvals from the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Board of Health, as well as a common victualler’s license and outside seating approvals from selectmen. The owner expects to start hiring in the next two weeks.
Construction has begun on Swizzles frozen yogurt next to Petco at the Vinnin Square mall. The shop is now slated to open in mid-July, said owner Adam Kessner. Originally he had hoped to open June 1, but the process has been slower than expected, he said. Swizzles will begin hiring in two weeks. Resumes can be emailed to info@swizzlesyogurt.com. Swizzles must still receive approvals from the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Board of Health. Wednesday selectmen will review the store’s common victualler’s license application, including a request for outside seating, according to the board’s agenda. Kessner, who has signed a lease for the property, had four Swizzles frozen yogurt shops in New England, as of late February. Customers choose …

The self-serve shop will rotate 25 flavors at a store next to Petco.
Adam Kessner liked a neighborhood frozen yogurt shop so much that he opened his own shop — with a twist — it was self-serve. Then he opened another Swizzles. And another. He has four Swizzles frozen yogurt shops in New England and plans to add to the mix with a Swampscott store next to Petco at Vinnin Square. He has signed a lease on the building and hopes to open June 1, though he still needs to submit plans to the town. He plans to do so early in March. Swizzles customers choose from a rotating selection of frozen yogurt flavors, then add their own toppings. "We put it in the customers' hands," he said in an interview Friday. They pay by the ounce, 59-cents per ounce. The cup sizes are 12-ounces and 16-ounces. The customer pulls the …
