Could this be the best “decked” house in the country? Possibly. Congrats to the Elliott family in Danvers for being chosen as one of the 25 finalists in our Deck the House contest. We had tons of national entries in this year’s Deck the House contest and in our quest to find the most over-the-top holiday decorations in the country, we’ve seen everything from a life-size Santa to holiday lights so bright they could blind the neighbors. We loved seeing everyone’s holiday spirit, but Deck the House isn’t over yet. We’re still looking for the one home so spectacularly decorated that it could be the national grand prize winner of our contest—and it could be a home on the North Shore. National voting for Deck the House began at 11 p.m. EST …

We’re launching our annual Deck the House Contest to find the most over-the-top holiday decorations in America—the best “decked” house in the country—the one home so spectacularly decorated that everyone in town jokes your holiday decorations could rival Rockefeller Center’s. If this sounds like your house, upload a photo or video of your home to our contest page fromNov. 26 to Dec. 16. Only residents of Patch towns are eligible. We’ll select 24 regional finalists, and from them, pick one grand prize winner. Patch will pay up to $500 of the utility bill for each finalist, while our national winner will have $100,000 donated to his or her local school district. Salem, Danvers and West Roxbury came close in the national contest.
Local homeowners in Salem, Danvers and West Roxbury came close, but it was the Powell family of Davis, CA that was named the winner of the Deck the House contest. But since the prize is $100,000 to Davis, CA schools, Kristy Powell doesn't quite see it that way. “We all won,” she said. “There are a lot of needs at the schools. This is not going to fix it all, but it will help. This is a blessing.” Salem came in 10th place with 1,362 votes, Danvers came in 12th place with 850 votes and West Roxbury in 24th place with 238 votes. On Monday Powell was approached by a young girl at Birch Lane Elementary, where she teaches. The girl had an adorable suggestion for how the prize money should be spent. "She said 'we need tether ball hooks,'" …

Two North Shore homes are finalists in Patch's Deck The House Contest.
Two North Shore homes and one home in West Roxbury are finalists in Patch's Deck The House contest. On the North Shore, Pauline LeBel Bautista of Salem and Christine Flynn Elliott of Danvers have won $500 toward their holiday-sized electric bills and are two of 24 nation-wide finalists with a chance to win $100,000 for their school district. Richie DiSalvo of West Roxbury is also up for the $100,000 prize. From now until Sunday, Jan. 8, at 11:59 p.m. ET log on to the contest site and cast your vote. Vote once a day, every day, for your favorite — and feel free to share the link on all your social networks!
