First Chance to Toss Christmas Trees This Week
Put the tree out with your regular trash.
Residents can dispose of Christmas trees by placing them curbside with the trash on their regular pickup day the weeks of Jan. 7 and Feb. 4, the Swampscott Health Department announced. Since the trees go directly into a chipper for recycling, trees should be stripped of all ornaments, lights, stand, plastic bags, etc. The Health Department also asks residents to not place trees out before these dates as they block sidewalks, become frozen in snowbanks and become a hazard on windy days. Call the Health Dept. at 596-8864 with any questions regarding the pickup.
