Man Beaten With Bat and Robbed on Paradise

The incident took place early Wednesday morning when the victim was walking home.

  A man was knocked to the ground and beaten with what is thought to have been a baseball bat on Paradise Road shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday. The assailants robbed the victim of his iPhone 4 and a gold chain, said Swampscott police Det. Tim Cassidy. The victim was transported to the hospital with bruises to his head, forearm and wrist, police said. "The male party reported that two or three male suspects dressed in black with ski masks on snuck up behind him and threw him to the ground demanding his money," said Det. Cassidy. "The suspects struck the victim in the head and in the ribs with an object believed to be a bat." Swampscott Man Faces New Assault Charges

Earlier this year, Anthony McKay received a lot of media attention before and after assault charges against him were dropped for allegedly breaking a suspected thief's jaw. Now the 29-year-old faces assault and other charges in an unrelated case.

A Swampscott man whose assault case drew wide media attention earlier this year is back in court for allegedly assaulting a relative and knocking the side rear-view mirror from his car. Anthony McKay, 29, is charged with assault, malicious destruction of property, witness intimidation, and two counts of threatening people. McKay allegedly became enraged over an exchange of family-related text messages, according to court documents. He allegedly broke the rear side-view mirror on the victim's car and threatened to kill him and his wife. The incident took place in Lynn, according to court records. He was arraigned Thursday in Lynn District Court and ordered to return for a pretrial hearing next month. At his arraignment, the judge released …

Bail Conditions Require Swampscott Man To Wear Monitoring Device

The judge set bail Tuesday at $100 and required the defendant, accused of domestic assault and stalking, to wear a GPS device.

  Bail conditions for a Swampscott man accused of assaulting and stalking a Lynn woman require that he wear a GPS device to allow authorities to monitor his whereabouts. Mark C. Sacco, 43, of 63 Pleasant St., was found to be a danger to his ex-girlfriend at a hearing Tuesday in Lynn District Court. Judge Albert Conlon set bail at $100 and required that the defendant be fitted with the GPS tracking device at court before his release on bail. A restraining order is in place prohibiting Sacco from contacting the victim. He is scheduled for a pretrial hearing next month on assault, stalking and criminal threatening charges for threatening to kill the Lynn woman. The 43-year-old is charged with stalking his ex-girlfriend, threatening her and assault — for striking her in the knees with a 5-pound weight.

  A Swampscott man is scheduled for a dangerousness hearing in Lynn District Court Tuesday after being held without bail for allegedly stalking, assaulting and threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend of six months. Mark C. Sacco, 43, of 63 Pleasant St., allegedly hit his ex-girlfriend on her knees, repeatedly, with a 5-pound weight after she refused to go to his apartment, according to court documents filed by Lynn police. The incident took place on Jan. 14, after the two had broken up and the woman had refused to go out with Sacco, the documents stated. He showed up at the victim's apartment and got upset when she refused his invitations to come to his apartment and she told him she wanted him to leave, she said in the police report. Sacco …

DA Drops Charges Against Swampscott Man

A review of evidence including, most recently, medical records, led to the decision by Essex DA Jonathan Blodgett to not prosecute Anthony McKay on an assault charge.

  Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett will not prosecute a local man charged in October with assault for allegedly breaking the jaw of a man he caught stealing tools from his truck. Anthony McKay, 29, was scheduled for a pretrial hearing in Lynn District Court on Jan. 24. Supporters of Anthony McKay, including his brother, Ken McKay, had planned to protest on that day. Essex DA Spokeswoman Carrie Kimball Monahan said this morning that the DA's office filed a nol pros —  a legal term meaning the prosecution ceases — on Jan. 6, in Lynn District.
