Patricia Sherman will be sorely missed by her fellow knitters!
Age 68, of Swampscott, passed away peacefully on May 27, after a brief illness. She is survived by her beloved husband of 28 years, John R. Sherman, a retired law professor, and by her brother, Thomas M. Davis, a ret. Fire captain of Peabody and her sister, Francine Harryman and her husband Thomas of Muskeegan, Michigan. Also by her two loved and loving cats, Ally and Val. She is also survived by her cousins, Kathy Jacobitz, Cynthia Carlsted and Loretta Stafford. Also by her very dear and special friend, Linda Hinchey and her wonderful neighbor, Sheila Sullivan and her gardening friend, Wendy Conaty and her daughter, Maeve. In December of 1960, Marblehead’s Betty Campbell pulled into a gas station in Marblehead to fill up her Renault Dauphine, and 21 year-old George Boles was working the pumps. George was smitten with Ms. Campbell at first glance, and when she told him she went to high school with his brother Bill, George went right home and went through Bill’s yearbook to see who this knockout was. George found out who Betty was and when she came in for gas again, late in December 1960, he asked her out for New Year’s Eve. Betty was hesitant, but she relented and they went out, the pair would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on March 24, but George passed away from a long illness, two days shy of that marriage milestone. Michael J. DiLisio, 72, died March 7, 2012, peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Lynn on October 24, 1939 to John and Mary (Gambale) DiLisio. He was a lifelong resident of Swampscott, and graduated from Swampscott High School in 1957. Michael was the husband of Nancy (Delano) DiLisio. They were high school sweethearts and were in their 50thyear of marriage. Michael was a retiree from the Swampscott Fire Department having 22 years of service with the rank as a Captain. An avid golfer he was a former Club Champion of Salem Country Club where he was a member for 37 years. A former member of the Swampscott Club he was also a Town Meeting Member for many years. Courtesy of the Jewish Journal. Herbert Galpert, a Swampscott resident for some 60 years, died Jan. 9, 2012 unexpectedly at his home. He was 92. Born in Revere, Herb graduated from Revere High School, where he was captain of the football team; he also played baseball and basketball. He graduated from Boston University, where he also excelled in sports. Herb was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates and played for their minor league farm team. Herb owned and operated the Algy Leather Consultant Company in Peabody. He was a World War II Army veteran. Bob was born and raised in Swampscott, MA. He is the son of the late Judith (Barenberg) and Sherman Lippa. He is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Carol F.
