Hawk.....There were no laws broken here. Yes, he may have broken a department policy. But not aRead More policy that should have forced his retirement. Think of this. Police and Fire departments all over the country now post Twitter pictures while on scene working an incident. Obviously if their taking pictures, then their not doing their jobs. Isn't that breaking department policy also? No reprimands happening. I still think this was a lame decission by the MSP.
Bob April 18, 2014 at 02:22 pm
Scott is right. He broke no law and the photos he released were already cleared for not being usedRead More as evidence. I think he deserved punishment but I thought the one week suspension was the right move. To be moved to Athol was a crap move by the State Police or whomever ordered it.

It's too bad that there weren't sequential pictures showing Tsarnaev with a red laser dot on hisRead More head, and then him laying on the ground with his head split open like a dropped melon.

The spineless rodent who murdered Tyler Zanco is still at large. I would hope that, even inRead More Massachusetts, this takes preference over flippin' shoplifters. If I DO spot one of these hardened criminals in the photos, however, I will immediately call 911, and go into self-imposed lockdown!

Hey whatever the demographic- better a call about a missing card than a shooting. The unleashed dogsRead More though- what, no animal control?
zephyr 1978 April 9, 2014 at 01:08 pm
The animal control position was cut years ago. I believe the Police call Marblehead's animal controlRead More and they respond and bill Swampscott on each response.

Is the patch going to post the name of the resident that was cited for having an underage drinkingRead More party or any of the participants that were over 18? I think one could check and see that every other arrest in town gets posted except this one.

The headline mistakenly says 'Chelsea crash' - this took place in Charlestown.

Thanks, Marisa! We've made the correction.

The discussion must be had: cyclists must be more vigilant and considerate of the traffic aroundRead More them - I cannot tell you how many times I have been forced to cross a center line to avoid hitting a single cyclist and sometimes 2 or 3 when riding side by side and not willing to form a single file - and this has taken place in Nahant, Marblehead and Humphrey Street--I do not know the circumstances in this case, but I do know I was hit by a cyclist when I had my signal on to take a right turn - he ran into me and never even stopped...So the question is, where is the responsibility for the cyclist when riding in traffic - I have seen them blow many a red light or stop sign...however, that being said, my sympathies to the family of this poor guy - not saying it was his fault, I have no idea - but I do feel badly for the truck driver - He did not wake up that morning and decide he would hit someone and then leave the scene - sad all around - two families changed forever

John, no especial need I suppose, but I don't feel any especial need not to, either. My right toRead More speak as I like exceeds your right to never be offended, and your god's not the boss of me. That's another nice thing about America.
SPH April 12, 2014 at 09:20 pm
@Bonnie Parker, You couldn't be more wrong in that statement. There are alot of things a person canRead More say to another person and get in alot of trouble. So just keep that in mind, (My right to speak as I like exceeds your right to never be offended,).............. WRONG IN SO MANY WAYS .
Ron Swanson April 2, 2014 at 12:36 pm
raymay, nice assumptions you just made. I actually do ride the bus and train 5 days a week to andRead More from work. I do deal with the delays in the winter while waiting outside and ride with all the diverse people. I would be a short walk to the Green Line stop at College Ave, and still don't think it's worth the money. Would be convenient, but as stated above, would rather have the money go to improving the existing system (so we don't have cold and hot weather delays) or to expand in areas much less served than ours. Good day sir.

Very sad. It does however make me think about the 18 year old kid who gets killed in Afghanistan andRead More why the outpouring stops a day after they come home in a casket.
Swampscott Police Department.
Do you listen to yourself? Arrest someone as adult for doing something that they are too young toRead More do. The 21 year old drinking "law" is unconstitutional. What other thing can a person who is over 18 not be allowed to do? Either raise the voting age to 21 or scrap the illogical and unconstitutional over 21 drinking law.
Tom Smith April 4, 2014 at 01:31 pm
Sir, you are a public official, act accordantly. It's the law. If you provide liquor to a minorRead More you broke the law. If you are a minor in possession of liquor you have broken the law. Should the police only enforce the laws that you like? What are you doing to stop underage drinking in Swampscott? I'm also guessing the majority of arrested were under 18.
I did not say to break the law. I said that the law is wrong. I have no authority over theRead More drinking age. Even the President of the United States scolded the Supreme Court during his State of the Union. The police did their job. They followed the law. We create the laws. We can change the law. The only reason why the law isn't changed is that there are more people who are over 21 year olds than there are 18-21 year olds.

There isn't a day that goes by that I am not thankful for our firefighters and police. EspeciallyRead More in Easton, where they saved my life, after I was in a horrible car wreck. Very sad every Time I hear one has fallen. This time it's 2! They save us every day and it seems too many folks just take it for granted. Events like this in Boston are very disturbing. God bless these men who ran in to save lives. They had to run in while everyone else had to run out. I hope these men's families are well cared for. If not, then let's make sure they are.

So Bosotn Fire just reported that the fire was started by welders working next door at 296 BeaconRead More St. Welders, working without a permit, and no aplication on file for a permit, so no fire detail there during the work being done, on a day with 50mph+ winds. Which I'm sure would not have been allowed on that day had a permit tried to be pulled because of those winds. So our brothers died that day because some company and building owner we're to frigin ignorant to follow laws. Absoulte BULLSHIT.
