Members of this Swampscott Historical Commission town panel serve three-year terms and their goal is to preserve Swampscott's character. Members advocate for preserving structures with historic value and rule on requests to alter sites of historic value. Commission members work closely with selectmen and the town administrator on some preservation efforts. In 2009, for instance, the commission asked selectmen to review the status of Andrews Chapel, which was in disrepair.
