Your Guide: Hop Aboard Maritime Weekend
The sea-inspired activities run from Thursday to Sunday, Aug. 8-11
The Marblehead Maritime Festival got underway Thursday with a garden party.
It's slated to end Sunday with kids activities at Fort Sewall.
In between, you are invited to cruise the seas, view ocean-inspired art and hear the call of the waves in shanties, singing that once accompanied labor aboard ship.

SASHAY to the Historic Jeremiah Lee Mansion Garden Party
The Marblehead Museum invites you to celebrate summer at this historic mansion built in 1768.

EXPLORE Maritime Exhibits, Artisan Vendors, & Activities
Including everything from boat builders to artists, exhibits and activities will be located at the
State Street Landing and Little Harbor. Live music and entertainment, beer and food vendors,
harbor tours, paddle boarding, and kayaking. Family activities include a treasure hunt, a pirate
hat station (design your own!), and other family activities to keep everyone busy.
MUSIC
At the heart of the Maritime Festival is the growing tradition of maritime musicians singing
shanties and nautical songs. From 10am-5pm on Saturday, celebrate maritime life with seven
performances from around the region promoting the shanties and songs of the sea.

Starts at The Landing, travels to Fort Sewall, and back to The Landing. This Walking Tour will
discuss the integral relationship between Marblehead’s social and economic history and the

1pm: Marblehead Little Theatre Performance
School Street. Stop by School Street to watch a youth group from the Marblehead Little Theatre
at their 1PM outdoor performance while you dine on their deck.

Sunday, August 11
RELAX
… at Fort Sewall while you watch the classic yachts under sail returning to the harbor from their
final competition. A beer truck and food vendors will be on-site as you enjoy a rousing “Bags”
tournament. Take in some history as you tour the fort and learn about 1,000 Marbleheaders at
sea in the War of 1812. Fun for all is guaranteed!
11:00am – 4:00pm: Beer truck
Noon – 1:30pm: Historic Presentation at the tip of Fort Sewall
Noon – 1:30pm: Cells at Fort Sewall open by Glover’s Regiment for tours
1pm – 3pm: Kids activities
1pm – 4pm: “Bags” tournament
2pm: Salty Dog Parade
Noon – 1:30pm – Harborside Presentation - Marblehead in the War of 1812
Meet at the end of Fort Sewall. FREE Admission. Donations welcome, open to all. For

Enjoy family activities & games. Enjoy food vendors on-site. Watch the conclusion of the
Corinthian Classic Regatta. Please note the following activities:
1:00pm: “Marblehead Bags” Tournament. Cash and Merchandise prizes awarded to the
top two teams!
2:00pm: “Salty Dog” Parade. Dress your dog in a “Nautical and Seaside Fun” Theme,
and show him/her off! (Possible costume ideas: Sailing, Pirates, Surfing, Swimming,
Fishing, Ocean Creatures, Water Sports, Clam Bakes, Cookouts, etc.)
1. Registration begins at 1:30pm, and the Parade will begin at 2:00pm.
2. A $5 Donation per entrant is requested and will be donated to the Friends of
Marblehead’s Abandoned Animals at the conclusion of the event.
3. Judging categories are to be determined.
4. Prizes awarded by Pawsitively Marblehead, Worldly Pets, and Personal Comforts
Pet Care, LLC.
