The Week Ahead: Veterans Day, Restaurant Renovation and Winter Sports Meeting

Here is a look at the week ahead in Swampscott:

Monday:

 Veterans Day ceremony on Monument Avenue at 11 a.m.

School Committee meets in executive session to talk about strategy for negotiations with the teachers' union. The meeting is at 7 p.m. in the community room at the police station.


Tuesday:

The Swampscott Public Library,  61 Burrill St., presents Practically Speaking English from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. This program is a chance for our Russian population to come in and practice their skills in communicating in English. The group will be lead by a non-Russian speaker to encourage members to only participate in English. 

The School Committee meets at 7 p.m. at the high school in Room B208. The agenda includes recognition for students' academic achievement, a budget update and a personnel report.

Wednesday:

The Zoning Board of Appeals meets on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Swampscott Senior Center. Agenda items include permit and variance requests from the Red Rock Bistro restaurant, 141 Humphrey St., for extensive renovations and a rooftop dining terrace.

Winter sports meeting at Swampscott High at 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the auditorium and first-floor classrooms.
