Democrats from Swampscott, Nahant, and Marblehead met with Congressman John Tierney to discuss re-election strategy.  Hosted by Nahant Democratic Town Committee Chairman Jim Walsh and his wife, Judy, the meeting focused on challenges facing the nation and middle class families, Congressional gridlock fostered by Tea Party adherents and opportunities for real solutions to rebuild the economy.

"Re-electing John to Congress is not only essential to the economic prosperity of Swampscott and other North Shore communities,” states Catherine Esteverena, “but we can be assured that John will continue to work for the goals and values that make this a great country, like making higher education accessible and affordable and taking care of our veterans when they come home."

Tierney described being the grandson of immigrants.  His story exemplifies the American Dream where educational opportunity coupled with hard work can lead to success.

“He attended Salem public schools, worked his way through Salem State College (now University) and earned a laws degree from Suffolk Law School,” said Ralph Edwards, SDTC chairman.  “John knows the middle class and our struggles, our dreams for our children, and the importance of rebuilding the economy.  I am proud to work for his re-election.”
