Swampscott Student Meets President
Swampscott High Junior Zack Levenson, is a politically active and involved student. Aside from being the president of the junior class and an active member of Political Action Club, he works as an intern for Congressman John Tierney. Days before President Barack Obama’s Health Care Speech at Faneuil Hall, Levenson was invited to attend the event. Four days prior to the event, Levenson received a late night phone call from one of his friends, telling him that he would be allowed to meet Obama during the speech. Levenson was ecstatic “Well, the next few days were absolutely the hardest, because I was so excited, but I couldn’t talk to anyone about it” said Levenson. Finally the day of the speech arrived. Levenson was taken back stage to read a portion of Obama’s speech off of a teleprompter, and to view the area where Obama would be speaking. The arrival of Obama was exciting, but “security skyrocketed at one point, and we knew he was here” said Levenson. After the speech, Obama personally thanked all of the political attendees. Levenson, who was seated with Congressman Bill Keating and Governor Deval Patrick, got to speak with Obama. After telling Obama of his work with Tierney and his own political aspirations, Obama told him to “keep up all the good work”. - See more at: http://shsblueprint.org/578/news/swampscott-student-meets-president
