It was a tradition rife with red, white and blue colors and fast-moving feet.
At least one of the Park League counselors got into the Independence Day mood on Thursday by painting her toenails red and blue — to go with white sandals.
The dashers ran on the field hockey space at Phillips Park. The town is resting the traditional terrain for the town races — Blocksidge Field — which was recently rehabbed with new sod between the hashmarks.
The runners and others cooled down with ice water and popsicles before heading off for Fourth of July gatherings and cookouts at beaches and in backyards.
