Swampscott Sweeps Into Summer With Strawberries, Songs and Sun

Swampscott enjoyed a fine Sunday afternoon at the annual July 4 Parade and Strawberry Festival.

Sunday's July 4 Parade and Strawberry Festival brought more than a thousand people to Humphrey Street, Monument Avenue and the expansive green lawn at Town Hall.
Football players and cheerleaders — seniors — got to ride on floats.
Football players and cheerleaders — underclass members — served shortcakes.
Friends caught up with each other.
Moms, dads and kids and grandparents and grandkids enjoyed the music and some even danced on the thick carpet of grass.
Summer rolled into town to Dixieland, Patriotic and Rock 'n' Roll music and plunked down on the Town Hall lawn by bowls of strawberry shortcake.
