Swampscott's Whole 4th of July Celebration Rundown

Here is the whole shebang of Fourth of July activities from July 1, to July 4, including the parade, the Strawberry Festival, the fireworks and the town races.

 

Strap yourself in for a rollicking celebration in Swampscott.

The annual celebration of our nation's independence from colonial rule gets underway Sunday, July 1, with a parade and ends on July 4, with foot races at .

In between, you can dig your spoon into berries, biscuits and whip cream, bounce on a moon bounce, buy crafts, jump around to rock'n'roll, "ooh and aah" over the night flight of exploding fireworks and dig your toes into the good earth and grass in a .

July 1

  • At 4 pm enjoy the annualon the Town Hall lawn put on by Big Blue football boosters.
  • At 4:30 pm the  starts at 44 Atlantic Ave. at Congregation and ends at 22 Monument Ave. at Town Hall.
  • At 5 pm on the lawn see and buy crafts including jewelry, pottery and soaps.
  • At 5 pm buy pizza from the SHS Class of 2014.
  • At 5 pm at k ride the moon bounce, the slide, and run the obstacle course. Ride tickets are $3 each or 4 for $10.
  • At 6 pm at Linscott Park enjoy the music of Shuffle Mode, pop/rock played by Kevin Kennedy and the band. Free.

July 3

  • From 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm The First Church in Swampscott, across from Town Hall, will host a cookout. Hamburgers are $6; hot dogs $5 and they come with two sides, chips and watermelon. Lobster rolls are $12.
  • At 9 pm a fireworks display at by Atlas Fireworks.
  • No parking from 7 pm to 10 pm on the ocean side of Humphrey Street from the Lynn town line to the for safety reasons including public safety access and to clear the view for spectators.
  • Fireworks show for 20-25 minutes.

July 4

  • At 9 am Firecracker 4 run/walk/wheel starts at Vinnin Square. Pre-entry fee for adults $22; and $26 on race day. Pre-entry for children, 12 and under is $14; and $18 on race day. For more information visit Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA.
  • At 11 amat Blocksidge Field at . Ribbons for first, second and third place. Ice pops and water. Free.
  • From 10 am until noon, tour the Sir John Humphrey House at 99 Paradise Road.
