Stage and television actor Jeremy Jordan will headline Broadway Break Thru Summer Intensive this Summer in Marblehead

The New York group "Broadway Break Thru" will conduct a "Summer Intensive" workshop from July 15-20 at "a Dancer's Dream" in Marblehead. Broadway and TV star Jeremy Jordan is the headline attraction.

Have you ever gone to a live theater performance or a movie and wanted to learn what it takes to become part of that world? You will have a unique opportunity to find out this summer from some of the industry's top leaders, including television and stage actor Jeremy Jordan.

 Broadway Break Thru is coming to Marblehead to conduct a week-long workshop from July 15-20 under the guide of famed casting director David Petro.

 BBT uses top film, TV and Broadway stars, casting directors, talent agents, producers, directors, choreographers and musical directors to provide an intensive weeklong experience. It hopes to provide national and local opportunities with the help of a faculty of top industry professionals in all markets.

 Jeremy Jordan was nominated for a Tony Award for his role as “Jack Kelly” in Disney’s “Newsies.” He also received a 2013 Grammy nomination for his work on the cast album. He was also in the 2009 Broadway revival of “West Side Story” and “Rock of Ages.”

 In addition, Jeremy appeared in NBC’s “Smash” this past season. His other TV credits include “Law & Order: SVU.” He starred in the film “Joyful Noise” with Queen Latifah, Keke Palmer and Dolly Parton.

 David Petro has been a casting director for many Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, including Altar Boyz. For national tours he has cast The 25th Putnam County Spelling Bee and Altar Boyz. Beyond New York, he has casted regional shows for Altar Boyz, Dreamgirls (with Jennifer Holliday), The Princess and the Black-Eyed Pea starring Lillias White, and The Wizard Of Oz.

 In his workshop, students take more 20 classes on subjects that range from basic acting; to how to build a resume; and to how to take a head shot.

 During the BBT student film series, workshop attendees will create their own films from start to finish (conceive, write, direct, cast, shoot, edit and produce). They will premiere during the workshop’s student-run film festival, along with live musical performances that showcase the week’s work.

 For those wishing to attend, but who cannot bring parents, housing has been arranged.

 Marblehead, an oceanside community and the birthplace of the U.S. Navy, offers a small beach-town environment with fun shops and good restaurants. It is a mere train, bus or commuter boat ride from downtown Boston. Also, the films “Ted” and “Grown Ups 2” were both film in part in Marblehead last summer.
