Gino Cresta and Matt Videtta Hat Tricks Power Swampscott Past Revere, 11-5

 

exploded for six goals in the second period—four in the first three minutes—to break open a tight game, then kept a scrappy Revere team at bay on the way an 11-5 win at Revere Wednesday night.   The win elevated the Blue to 8-7-3 and bolstered their position for a spot in post-season tourney play.

Captain Gino Cresta and Matt Videtta each scored hat tricks and each added three assists to power the Blue offense.  Cresta triggered a Swampscott eruption just over a minute into the second period to give Swampscott a 3-1 lead.  Then, like lightening striking in the next two minutes, Chris Carman, Videtta, and Chris Dandreo tallied and the score was 6-1 before the new ice was even scraped.  Revere answered with a goal by Drew Lauria, but the Blue added two more to make it 8-3 after the second period.

Videtta nabbed his hat trick, and Dandreo scored his second goal of the night, and Corey Carmody tallied, giving goaltender Patrick Sheehan all the cushion he’d need for a reasonably comfortable night in the net.
