Swampscott Police Officer Claims Fourth JCC Triathlon Victory

The winner of the women's category lives in Marblehead.

Swampscott police officer Kevin Reen earned his fourth  victory Sunday clocking a time of 53:16 over the Marblehead and Swampscott course.

Under sunshine and in temperatures in the 70s the competitors raced the 1/8-mile swim, 10-mile bike and 3.5-mile run.

Kristen Lamb of Marblehead won the women's category again and came in second overall with a time of 55:44.

Conor Ohlson, 11, of Marblehead finished first in the age 1-19 category.

Triathletes included racers from age 9-71 years old, said JCC spokesowman Leigh Blander.

"We had lots of teenage runners this year," she said.

The field typically includes about 170 competitors who start the race by swimming in the JCC pool.

They followed the swim with bike loops around Marblehead Neck and a run down Atlantic Avenue to Humphrey Street and back to the JCC.

A crowd lined both sides of the driveway to the JCC cheering the runners to the finish line.
