Swampscott Falls to Peabody in Jimmy Fund Tourney Game

On Friday, Peabody West ripped off seven runs in the bottom of the fourth and held off the Swampscott 12-year-old's at the Lt. Ross Field to improve to 2-0 in the annual Jimmy Fund Tournament.

The 12-year-old Peabody West baseball team picked up its second win of the annual Jimmy Fund Tournament Friday night, knocking off Swampscott 10-7. Peabody West opened the tourney with a 19-11 win over Saugus American.

Swampscott (0-1) was trying to open up its season with a win and went ahead 5-1 in the top of the fourth, but Peabody West (2-0) stormed back with seven runs in its turn at bat in the bottom of the inning and held on for the win.

Josh Rubin and Josh Allen split the game on the mound for Swampscott. Swampscott's manager is Tom Pass, with Jeff Rubin and Steve Allen on the coaching staff.

Andrew Dewsnap, Cam Curley and Kodey Cutliffe took turns on the mound for Peabody West. Curley started and got the win for manager Peter Mastromatteo and coaches Bobby Sacramone, Jim Dorgan and Paul Dewsnap.

Josh Rubin and Maxx Cooper had two hits apiece for Swampscott, Tommy Kimber and Kodey Cutliffe each banged out two hits for Peabody West.

Swampscott will try to get in the win column when it takes on Peabody National today at noon.

Peabody West takes on Salem immediately following the Swampscott/Peabody National game.

All games in the 2011 Jimmy Fund Tournament will be played at Lt. Ross Field in West Peabody.
