St. John's Girls Fall in Championship

North Shore CYO Basketball Playoff Championship Game

St. John's Falls in League Championship Final

At Medford High School on Sunday, the St. John's Girls Bantams(14-1) took on St. Adelaide of Peabody(15-0)in the championship game of the North Shore playoffs.

St. John's decided to shake things up as they came out in a box and one with Veronica Rizzo chasing Peabody's Katie Wallace all over the floor. But St. Adelaide countered with a full court press causing numerous turnovers as they jumped out to a 13-0 lead. Gabby Lariviere finally got St. John's on the scoreboard with 7:22 left in the first half. St. Adelaide continued to roll and despite a late Lily Burkett basket assisted by Veronica Rizzo, held a comfortable half time lead.

Things didn't change much in the second half as St. Adelaide showed why it was undefeated as they rolled to the championship win. Lily Burkett led St. John's with 4 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.

St. John's finished the North Shore season with a 14-2 record. Their only two losses were to St. Adelaide. They now will compete in the EMASS CYO state tournament on March 5th against St. Batholomew of Needham.
