St. John's of Swampscott CYO Basketball Registration

The Oldest Youth Sports Organization in Swampscott begins its 59th season.

Online registration is now available for the St. John’s of Swampscott girls and boys basketball program.

Swampscott boys and girls in grades 5-8 may register at swampscottcyo.org by going to the Register On-Line section.

The CYO basketball program in Swampscott began in 1953, under the guidance of Dick Lynch as a grammar school intramural team program.

CYO plays a 14-18 game schedule finishing with the state tournament in March. Teams include St.Adelaide’s and St. John’s of Peabody. St. Mary’s, St. Pius, and Sacred Heart of Lynn. St. Joseph, St. Francis, and St. Rafael of Medford. St. Johns of Winthrop, Star of the Sea of Marblehead, Immaculate Conception of Revere, Blessed Sacrament of Saugus, Our Lady of Assumption in Lynnfield and St Thomas of Nahant.

The Bantam team is comprised of 4th, 5th, and 6th grade players, under age 13 and greater than age 9 as of 12/31/12. The Cadet team is comprised of 7th and 8th grade players, under age 15 and greater than age 11 as of 12/31/12.

This type of set-up most closely resembles the current High School Basketball combined grade level teams. CYO basketball provides the best opportunity for success in this type of environment.
