Swampscott Little League Softball Players Learn the Mechanics of Pitching

held the second of eight softball pitching clinics on Sunday at the gym.

The clinic was led by Katlyn Mallette, an instructor at the Hit Zone in Swampscott. She pitched for Ohio University, and is the pitching coach for Taunton High School.

The softball pitching clinic is open to all girls in their second year of Farm (age 8), Minor (ages 9 and 10), Major (ages 11 and 12) and Senior (ages 13 to 16) leagues who are interested in developing their skills as a softball pitcher.

In this week’s session, Katlyn taught those attending about the mechanics of the softball pitching, including what she referred to as the “bing” and the “brush.” (See video and photos.)

The clinics are being held on Sundays, through April 17th from 3 p.m. to 4  p.m. The cost is $10 per session.
