SHS Hockey Skates to 3-0 Win

Swampscott Hockey improved to 9-1 on the season with a 3-0 win over a very strong Div. 3 West opponent in East Longmeadow.

After a scoreless first period, Swampscott's freshman Noah Maercklein scored a power play goal assisted from Patrick Burkett and Chris Carman five minutes into the second period.

Joey Silva made it 2-0 with 50 seconds left in second period assisted by Trevor Massey and Devon Wall.

Three minutes into the third period, Noah Maercklein scored his second power play goal of the game.

That was all the Big Blue needed to hold on for the win with a solid 23-save shut out performance from Trent Gallagher (the first of his high school career).

Big Blue plays next on Saturday against Beverly High School. The game is at 3 p.m. at Salem State.
