AJ Baker hit several outside shots to account for Swampscott's early scoring.

The first quarter ended 22-9 with Swampscott struggling to find their focus and rythym.

Danvers' smooth ball movement and movement without the ball stalled in the second quarter.

Swampscott got back in the game playing aggressive defense. They boxed out their longer opponents and rebounded.

Dan Trentsch drained a jumpshot and stole the ball during the comeback.

Merry's presence in the middle still made it difficult for Swampscott to score in the paint.

Danvers answered with a tri of their own on the next possession and were not really threatened from there on in.

Swampscott made a run to within 10 points in the third quarter riding Trentsch's hot shooting hand.

He wants them to keep playing hard when they are ahead.

"We don't want to let up," he said.

He expects Justin Fucile's team will win their share of games before all is said and done.

Coach Fucile was not happy with what he saw Friday and that included the team's effort.

They play next on Tuesday against Gloucester.

Swampscott is 0-2. They lost their first game to Winthrop.
