Little League Softball Profile: The Swampscott Heatwave

The Major League Heatwave opened their 2011 softball season with a win, but fell in game two to the West Lynn American Red Sox.

The Swampscott Heatwave fell to the West Lynn American Red Sox early in the season at home, 8-6, evening their record at 1-1 at the time.

The Heatwave, playing in the Swampscott Little League Softball Program, is made up of 10, 11 and 12 year-old girls from all across town.

The Heatwave threatened the Red Sox Friday night, but couldn’t push across the tying runs in the bottom of the sixth.

The girls, who play in the Majors, are coached by Dick Faulkner, John Kennedy, Chris Kennedy and Dean LeBlanc, and opened up the year with a win over the Swampscott Blizzard.

This year’s squad includes; Jamie Ring, Nicole LeBlanc, Kasey Kennedy, Annie Norton, Olivia Cook, Sydney Faulkner, Katie Cook, Michaela Freddo, Maddie Nelson, Alex Gladstone, and Erica Groom.
