Little League Baseball is Alive and Well

A look back at the Swampscott Little League parade.

In a sure sign that spring is here, over 500 Swampscott Little Leaguer's and their families took to the streets on a beautiful Sunday morning for the annual Swampscott Little League parade.

Led by Swampscott Police and Fire vehicles and the North Shore Navigator's Mascot ("Chomps the Gator"), boys and girls from age 4-16 years old laughed, screamed, and marched their way from Hadley School to the Duratti-Holmes-Cerone(“DHC”) fields on Forest Ave.

Upon arrival at the beautiful baseball and softball field complex, Little League President Mike Pegnato welcomed the players, coaches, parents, and families, and thanked all for their continued support and contributions to the success of the league.

Pegnato then turned the microphone over to Giuliana Mignone, a freshman at Swampscott High School, who wowed the crowd with an amazing rendition of the National Anthem. T-baller, Michael Roman D’Amore then followed with a reading of the Little League pledge.

As the Little Leaguer's exited the field they were treated to "high-fives" and "fist-bumps" from Swampscott High Varsity baseball team. It was a glorious day capped with exhibition games on the “big diamond” for T-ball and Instructional teams – complete with announcements of each player as they came to bat. America’s favorite past time – alive and well!
