Aidan Lang brought them back to within a goal assisted by Kennedy and Mason.  Swampscott dominated the offensive zone. Eric Zeller hit the post with 4:30 left.

Kennedy finally evened it up at 3 from Sean Lannon and Tony Silva at the 3:32 mark. But just 18 seconds later, Peabody scored to retake the lead.

With 1:40 left, Gambale scored his second goal of the game to even the score at the half.

Peabody dominated the early part of the second half. They scored three times in the first 2 minutes for a 7-4 lead. Just as things started to look gloomy, Captain Sean Lannon scored twice.

The first unassisted and the second from Tony Silva and Billy Valle to make the score 7-6 with 8:40 left in the quarter. Two minutes later, Peabody regained its two goal lead.

The skies then opened up and the game was suspended for 27 minutes due to thunder storms. When play resumed, it took Lannon 53 seconds to bring the Big Blue within one goal as the third quarter ended.

Matt Gambale opened the fourth quarter with an unassisted goal with 10:01 left to even the game.  Two minutes later, Lannon scored for the fourth time assisted by Zeller to take the lead at 9-8.

But momentum shifted again, Peabody scored two goals to retake the lead at 10-9 with 6:36 to go in the game.  With 3:46 left, a fight broke out in the Peabody zone.

When order was restored, Swampscott starters Kennedy and Mason were out, as was one Peabody player. This gave Peabody a man advantage for the remainder of the game.

All they had to do was kill the clock. That was exactly what they proceeded to do. But Swampscott had other ideas. The Swampscott defense led by Tyler Faulkner, Pat Costin, Tony Silva, and Billy Valle prevented Peabody from scoring.

They picked up the defensive pressure and caused a turnover. Into the mix stepped Swampscott Junior Adam Samborn.

He raced up field and circled the net where he found a streaking Matt Gambale coming in from the Big Blue bench. No one was within 10 yards of him.

Samborn made the pass and Gambale scored to even the game with 1:55 left.  In the closing minutes,  Mark McMahon made two huge stops. The biggest with 1:14 to go.

But Peabody was still a man-up as they had the ball with 10 seconds left. But they made a tactical mistake. Instead of going for the win, they killed the clock and played for overtime.

With four minutes on the clock, the two teams headed into sudden-death overtime. The team that scored first would win. 59 seconds into overtime, it was Samborn passing to Lannon.

The Peabody defense parted and allowed Lannon to walk in alone where he beat the goalie and stunned the Peabody crowd.

With the win, Swampscott improved to 4-4 (4-1 in NEC) and take on NEC South opponent Saugus Monday at Stackpole Field.
