JCC Remembers Sports Hero with 3-on-3 Tournament

Games start Monday morning and continue through the early evening with competitions for age groups ranging from third graders to adults.

Lace up your sneakers and get your hook shot ready! The JCC’s popular Jimmy Myers 3-on-3 Basketball Tourney is this Monday, Jan. 16, and there’s still time to play.

Myers, a Swampscott native, was a beloved coach at the J for 25 years, where he mentored thousands of kids about good sportsmanship. He ran youth and adult basketball leagues, coached, refereed and led after-school classes.

“He was a great role model here at the J,” said Andrew Dalton, director of Sports & Aquatics. “His positive, get-everyone-in-the-game approach made every player feel like an important part of the team.”

Mike Leykin grew up with Myers as his coach. Today, Leykin runs basketball program Premier Hoops and is sponsoring the tournament.
