Girls Soccer Stays Undefeated With Tie

The Blue girls played tough defense in a 0-0 tie against Peabody on Tuesday.

has still never beat Peabody in coach Francesco Recchia's tenure.

But the 0-0 tie on the Tanners' turf had some bright spots.

For one, it was the first time a Recchia team has tied the Tanners, traditionally a powerful soccer club.

Also on the plus side, the Blue girls played solid D.

Goalieregistered 11 saves, and her fullbacks played well in front her, the coach said.

"The team defense was perfect," he said.

At the other end, Blue shooters had their chances. About six of their 14 shots on goal were scoring opportunities, he said.

The Blue team's record stands at 2-0-1.

They play the Beverly Panthers on Friday at Upper Jackson Field at Swampscott High School.

The teams split their meetings last year.
