Swampscott High School's field house was dedicated in honor of Dick Lynch Tuesday night.

The Swampscott High School field house was dedicated in honor of longtime Swampscott High School teacher and coach Dick Lynch during a ceremony at the high school Tuesday night.

Dick Lynch founded the St. John's CYO basketball program in 1953. He was a long time Swampscott teacher, varsity basketball coach, assistant football coach, and served as an athletic director in Danvers.

He is a member of several Hall of Fames including the Massachusetts State Basketball Hall of Fame, according to this post on Swampscott Patch.

WCVB News is reporting that in 19 years as an assistant football coach, the Big Blue went 125-34; in three seasons coaching baseball, his teams were 41-7, won two NEC crowns and made three straight appearances in the state tournament; and on the court, his 1968 team won the Class B state title, and the program made six state tournament appearances, secured four NEC titles and had a record of 119-37.
