Ryan January and Brendan McDonald belted home runs and senior lefthander Alex Zuchero stifled batters all afternoon as Swampscott rolled to a 12-1 win over Bedford Saturday, avenging the Big Blue's 13-0 season-opening loss to the Buccaneers.
The threat of rain hung heavy over the Middle School field throughout the game, but a Swampscott victory was safely in the books by the time things got damp in the sixth inning. The win boosted Swampscott's overall record to 6-9.
