Big Blue Cross Country Coach Named

The new Swampscott High cross country coach is Jeff Bartlett, previously assistant cross country coach at Danvers High School.

On behalf of the Swampscott High School Athletic Department, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jeffrey Bartlett as head cross country coach.

Jeff currently serves as a health education teacher at Holten-Richmond Middle School in Danvers. Additionally, Jeff has served as the assistant cross country and indoor track coach at Danvers High School for two years and co-head coach of the boys outdoor track and field team at Danvers High School for one year.

His references fully validate his commitment to, knowledge of and enthusiasm for education and athletics.

 The interview committee, consisting of three student-athletes, one parent, one coach, and myself viewed Mr. Bartlett as an energetic, knowledgeable, and professional coach who exemplified the core values of our athletic department and school.

Mr. Bartlett has met already met with our new assistant coach, Derek Stevens, and current assistant coach Mr. Joseph Tenney, multiple times to begin planning for the upcoming season. 

Mr. Bartlett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in health studies from Springfield College where he was elected captain of the track and field and cross country teams and is currently enrolled as a part-time master’s student in the Boston University School of Education.

Mr. Bartlett will be formally announced as head coach to the cross country team on Friday, June 10.
